Police have taken a statement from the French woman suspected of murdering her husband and adult daughter at the Edition Hotel in central Reykjavík.

The woman, who sustained injuries and was taken to hospital, is currently in police custody. Her condition was reported as stable on last night, though police have not provided an update since.

    Investigation Progressing “Reasonably well”

The victims—a man in his 60s and his daughter in her 30s—were found in a hotel room. The woman in custody is believed to be the wife and mother of the deceased. The family had been travelling together.

Ævar Pálmi Pálmason, Assistant Chief of Police for the capital area and lead investigator in the case, told local reporters that the investigation is progressing well.

First, they are working to establish a clear timeline of events before and after the suspected murders. However, the authorities declined to comment further on the details.

    Ongoing investigation

When asked if a weapon was found, police would not comment. The location of the crime within the hotel was confirmed only as “a hotel room.”

Emergency services were first alerted by hotel staff. Police have since spoken to multiple witnesses, including guests and employees.

Ævar also confirmed that trauma support was provided at the scene in collaboration with the Red Cross and the hotel.

The field investigation is ongoing and expected to continue through the week.
