Icelandair is broadening its winter schedule with two new European destinations: Edinburgh and Malaga.
As reported by Aerotime, the carrier confirmed that flights to both cities will begin in September 2025, joining previously announced new routes to Istanbul and Miami.
The route to Edinburgh launches on 12 September and will operate three to four times weekly until mid-April 2026. Icelandair, which has served Glasgow since the 1960s, describes Edinburgh as one of Northern Europe’s most scenic and popular tourist cities, noting the new schedule allows for smooth onward connections across its transatlantic network.

Flights to Malaga begin on 6 September and will run once or twice weekly until 30 May 2026. Located in Spain’s Andalusia region, the city is known for its history, culture and coastlines. Icelandair already flies to Madrid, Barcelona and Tenerife.
“This is the first time we’ve introduced four new winter destinations in a single year,” said CEO Bogi Nils Bogason. “It reflects our strategy to grow beyond the summer peak and reduce tourism seasonality in Iceland.”
The airline also announced an extended schedule to Nashville and Hamburg, and increased frequency on several European routes including Barcelona and Brussels.
Icelandair’s fleet currently serves 65 destinations in 22 countries.
