A photo of downtown Reykjavík, taken by Óli Haukur Mýrdal, has gone viral since yesterday, mbl.is reports. He took a series of photos in the twilight on December 2.
“I’ve long dreamt of taking a great picture of downtown and I’ve dreamt of this viewpoint,” Óli Haukur told mbl.is.
“For that to happen, conditions had to be right, which they finally were yesterday [Wednesday]. A lot of snow, good weather, Christmas lights and, of course, a flying camera, something you wouldn’t have dreamt of a few years ago. Today’s technology allows us to capture moments like this one.”
In order to get this viewpoint, Óli Haukur used a drone which connects to 9-17 satellites to position itself at a precise point where it maintains the same height and direction.
The camera is fastened to three Gyro-stabilized motors, which constantly move to keep the camera completely steady.
