    Aron and Margrét Most Popular Baby Names

    The names Aron and Margrét as first names for boys and girls respectively were the most popular names given to children born in Iceland in 2014, according to Statistics Iceland. The names Alexander and Viktor for boys and Anna and Emma for girls were the second and third most popular first names for children born in Iceland this year.

    As for middle names, Þór, Hrafn, and Freyr were the most popular boys’ names given in 2014 while María, Rós and Ósk were the most popular ones for girls.

    Looking at the whole population of the country in 2015, the ten most common names have remained the same since 2010. Among men, the most common ones were Jón, Sigurður and Guðmundur, but among women, Guðrún, Anna and Kristín.

    Most Icelanders have more than one name. According to Statistics Iceland, the most popular combinations for the population as a whole are Jón Þór for boys and Anna María for girls.

    The most common time of year for children to be born in Iceland is summer and fall. The most common birth date is September 27 with 1,025 individuals born on that day. Meanwhile, the least common birth date is February 29 with just 210 individuals born on that day.

    A total of 667 Icelanders celebrated their birthday December 25.
