Hikers and campers in the central highland may need to cancel or change plans due to a yellow weather warning in the area which takes effect after 6.00pm this evening. The area, which includes the popular Laugavegur hiking route, will experience a southeast gale tonight with wind gusts up to 25m/s.
The low-pressure front will move northwest across the country on Thursday, causing storms in Breiðafjörður, the Westfjords, and the Northwest region tomorrow between noon and midnight. The storm will bring moderate to heavy rain in these areas accompanied by strong gusts of wind.
Strong wind gusts can be dangerous for those staying in tents and smaller vehicles or other vehicles sensitive to wind. Travellers are encouraged to keep track of weather conditions and cancel or reschedule trips where necessary.
