Iceland’s presidential residence Bessastaðir has become more accessible thanks to two new wheelchair lifts. Þuríður Harpa Sigurðardóttir, Chairperson of the Icelandic Disability Alliance (Öryrkjabandalag Íslands), stated that only around 6% of buildings in Iceland are wheelchair-accessible, despite legislation requiring them to be accessible to everyone.
