Ziegler Film buys movie rights of Icelandic novel

German film production company Ziegler Film recently purchased the movie rights of crime novel Thridja táknid (The Third Sign) by Icelandic author Yrsa Sigurdardóttir.

The Third Sign is Sigurdardóttir’s first crime novel. It is being translated into 25 languages and has already been published in Scandinavia. Bladid reports.

Critics praise the book and Swedish magazine Allas even described Sigurdardóttir as “a queen of suspense.” Sigurdardóttir’s second crime novel Sér grefur gröf (Each Digs His Own Grave) is fresh off the printers in Iceland.

Ziegler Film was founded in Berlin in 1973 and has produced close to 300 movies and TV series. The film production company is best known for Call of the Toad, a movie based on a novel by German Nobel Prize winner Günter Grass.
