Young man stabbed in Hafnarfjördur, another hit by car

A young man was seriously injured after being stabbed in the back in Hafnarfjördur, a municipality near Reykjavík, early Saturday morning. In the same incident a friend of his was deliberately hit by a car.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />

The man who sustained the knife wounds was admitted to the intensive care unit at the National University Hospital with life-threatening injuries, but was discharged to a general ward the following morning. The man who was hit by the car was not seriously injured. The perpetrators of the attack left the scene.

Police later apprehended three suspects. The youngest is sixteen and the oldest nineteen. No cause for the attacks has been given.
