Young Designers Work against Violence

By Iceland Review

Around 30 high-school students from Iceland’s capital region participated in a design workshop at the facilities of Nakti apinn (Naked Ape) design store in downtown Reykjavík yesterday to redesign so-called V-Day t-shirts against violence.

The t-shirts will be sold at Nakti apinn up until Christmas and all proceeds go towards Landspítali National Hospital’s crisis center for rape victims, Morgunbladid reports.

“With this we wanted to raise awareness of the crisis center in relation to the current 16-day campaign against gender-based violence,” said Hlín Helga Gudlaugsdóttir who is on the board of the V-Day Association.

Gudlaugsdóttir said it is important to raise awareness among young people of gender-based violence with the goal of finding ways to put an end to such violence.
