Young Couple Make Twelve Thousand Gloves

A young couple in Þórshöfn (pop. 350), Northeast Iceland, Vilborg and Jón Rúnar, have produced 6,000 pairs of gloves this year, despite not knowing anything about the knitting industry just three years ago.

The couple bought a 30-year-old knitting machine in 2010 and set up their label Vanda, selling 1,200 pairs in their first year. Having multiplied their production several times, they are now looking to export the gloves, which are made of 30 percent Icelandic wool and 70 percent nylon, reports.
