Young Chocolatiers in Startup Reykjavík

Among the ten teams that were selected from the 250 applicants to startup accelerator Startup Reykjavík last week is Moon Chocolate, high quality design chocolate bars, created by a group of friends who graduated from junior college Verzlunarskóli Íslands in May.

Moon Chocolate has already won the startup contest Junior Achievement in Iceland and will, thus, participate in the international edition of Junior Achievement in Switzerland this summer, mbl.is reports.
The chocolate is made from scratch with fair trade cocoa beans from Tanzanian company Kokoa Kamili and comes in four different flavors, which were developed with the help of Omnom Chocolate. Three other flavors are being developed, and Moon Chocolate plans to make pralines, Easter eggs and offer catering services in the future.

The other teams in Startup Reykjavík include Convex, an adventure game for families, Lava Show, where spectators can observe real molted lava flow across ice, and Isold Film, a fund for investing in television and filmmaking, mbl.is reports.

The ten qualifiers will be provided with facilities to further develop their business ideas for ten weeks under the guidance of experienced entrepreneurs. Arion Bank invests in the startups for ISK 2.4 million (USD 19,700, EUR 17,300) in exchange for a 6 percent share.
Startup Reykjavík was first held in 2012 and was named the best startup accelerator program in the Nordic countries in 2015.
