Musician, artist and pacifist Yoko Ono will perform in concert with the Plastic Ono Band in Iceland and organize various other events to encourage world peace in relation to what would have been late husband John Lennon’s 70th birthday on October 9.

Ono will light the Imagine Peace Tower on Videy island outside Reykjavík at 8 pm on that day—as she has done in past years—and invite the world to join her in a live broadcast on imaginepeace.com, Morgunbladid reports.
After the ceremony the Plastic Ono Band and guests will perform. Every other year Ono grants two individuals a donation from the LennonOno Grant for Peace but this year four individuals will be awarded for their contribution to peace.
They are filmmaker Josh Fox, author Michael Pollan, author, poet and campaigner Alice Walker and spokesperson for food safety Barbara Kowalcyk. The recognitions will be granted at the Reykjavík reception house Höfdi on October 9.
