X-Ray Technicians Sign Contract, Not All Content

Chair of the union for x-ray technicians Katrín Sigurðardóttir stated she doubts all 40 x-ray technicians who had resigned at Landspítali University Hospital will withdraw their resignations and show up for work today in spite of a new wage contract having been signed just before midnight yesterday.

Katrín explained to mbl.is that every individual employee must decide whether to withdraw his or her resignation in light of the new agreement. Its terms will be presented to them today, as soon as possible, she added.

“We achieved certain changes that we believe will benefit x-ray technicians,” Katrín commented. “I believe that we were able to move matters ahead in all the fields that were important to us.”

“It is what we could do to meet the demands of these persons,” said director of Landspítali Björn Zoëga. “We hope that more x-ray technicians will return so that the operations can be strengthened. Then it can be expected that the hospital’s operations will go on as usual later in the day but some delay is foreseeable to start with.”
