Iceland’s national broadcaster RÚV has posted an entertaining summary of the 2013 World Championships for Icelandic Horses in Berlin, which came to an end last Sunday, on its website ruv.is.

Even for non-Icelandic speakers the video succeeds in communicating the atmosphere, showing beautiful horses and everything else that was going on in Berlin during the world cup.
Among other things, Julie Christensen, the recently-crowned world champion in T2 (tölt on loose rein) reveals in the video that she has only participated with her horse Straumur frá Seljabrekku in two tournaments after buying it in Iceland.
Einar Öder Magnússon, former leader of the Icelandic national team, states in an interview that in his opinion breeding competitions should have no place in a world cup.
They should be a separate event and the young riders should get more focus instead, Einar resons. He believes that this would also boost the demand for horses for this group of riders.
World cup moderator Henning Draht admits to having encountered the Icelandic horse breed only 15 years ago and rider Magnús Skúlason, the gold medalist in five-gait, reveals that he has been thinking a lot about his teacher Reynir Aðalsteinsson during the world cup finals.
