A popular Icelandic urban legend states that Iceland has the strongest men and the most beautiful women. This legend traces its foundations to the late 80’ and early 90’ when the Icelandic hulk, Jón Páll Sigmarsson dominated such competitions as the world’s strongest man and two Icelandic women, Linda Pétursdóttir and Hólmfrídur Karlsdóttir won the Miss World beauty contest.
According the traveling magazine Travelers Digest this is not true at all. In the latest issue, the magazine publishes a list of ten cities that are supposed to be the residence of the most beautiful women in the world. Reykjavík is not even on the list. Mbl.is reported.
According to the list, the most beautiful women in the world live in Amsterdam. Stockholm and Copenhagen are also on the list as number nine and ten so maybe urban legends aren’t true after all. Or maybe the list is just not properly made.
