Women received all the awards at last Friday’s annual Icelandic Journalist Award Ceremony, reports Morgunbladid.
Gerdur Kristný Gudjónsdóttir received the 2005 Journalist of the Year Award for her “unconventional journalism and detailed research” of a “Picture of daddy – Thelma’s story”, a horrifying account of the sexual abuse of five sisters that shocked the nation when it was published last fall.
Sunna Ósk Logadóttir, a journalist from the Morgunbladid won for Coverage of the Year for her articles on the operations of the University Hospital in wake of its merger.
Sigrídur Dögg Audunsdóttir, a journalist from the Fréttabladid, received the award for Investigative Journalism of the Year for her articles on the privatization of the national banks and her reporting on the involvement of certain influential figures in the events that led to the charges against several senior managers at Baugur.
