Women 13 Percent of All Board Members

According to a recent study made by Bifröst University women occupy 13 percent of board seats in 120 of the largest Icelandic companies. In 13 of the largest the chairman is a woman. In 2007 only three women were on boards in some of the 100 largest companies.

In the eleven companies, registered on OMX (Icelandic stock exchange), women occupy ten percent of board members seats, but no woman is a chairman in any of the companies. Mbl.is reports.

Of the 120 companies women are chairman in only ten companies, around eight percent of the total amount.

57 percent of the companies have no women on board. In 2007 71 percent of the companies listed were without a woman on board.
