Woman Convicted for Sexually Abusing Friend

Reykjavík District Court gave a woman a six month provisory prison sentence yesterday for sexually violating a female friend during a cottage trip in the summer of 2006. The accused has to pay the victim ISK 300,000 (USD 4,800, EUR 3,300) in compensation.

The woman was found guilty of having sexually abused her friend while the latter was unconscious from having consumed too much alcohol. A third friend claimed having seen the convict with her head between the legs of the victim, Fréttabladid reports.

The woman said she was innocent, claiming she had only been talking to her friend and fallen asleep beside her. Earlier in the evening the convict had allegedly talked about being sexually attracted to other women.
