Woman Arrested for Too Many Phone Calls

The police arrested a woman in her home shortly before 4 am yesterday morning for constant phone calls she made to the Icelandic emergency hotline 112 the preceding hour; she called the hotline 200 times in one hour

The employees of 112 contacted the police asking them to intervene so that they could respond to genuine emergency phone calls, ruv.is reports.

The woman was taken to a prison cell.

This is not the first time that the police have been called up to assist with non-emergency calls to the employees of 112. In October last year the police arrested a drunk man in his thirties after he called the hotline 50 times over a short period.
