Wireless Internet for Icelandair Passengers This Year

All Icelandair planes will have wireless internet before the end of the year.

Customers will have access to wireless internet on Icelandair jets before the year is out, according to Guðjón Arngrímsson, the company’s information officer.

Half of the Icelandic airline’s fleet already has internet available, Vísir.is reports.

This is not the first time the airline has promised internet in all its planes, however. Icelandair announced in 2012 that all its planes would be connected to the worldwide web by autumn 2013.

A contract was signed in May 2012 with the American company Row 44 to set up internet access on its planes. The project is already half way to completion.

There are still relatively few airlines in the world offering wireless internet. Reportedly only five airlines offer their internet to customers for free.
