Looking for something to brighten your winter days? You’re in luck, because Winter Lights Festival will be held in the Greater Reykjavik Area February 4-7. This is the thirteenth time this festival of light and darkness is held, but its main attractions are Museum Night, Swimming Pool Night, Snow Fest and Light Fest, in addition to 150 related events. The purpose of the Winter Lights Festival is to entertain people in the capital area and give them a chance to enjoy culture and time outdoors in their own community. The City of Reykjavík oversees the Festival. All events are free of charge.
Following are the highlights of the schedule:
Thursday, February 4, 7:30 pm: Opening ceremony by Harpa Concert Hall, light artwork and snowboarding party.
Friday, February 5, 7 pm-midnight: Museum Night at almost 40 museums.
Saturday, February 6, 4 pm-midnight: Pool Night at ten swimming pools.
Sunday, February 7: Snow Fest in Bláfjöll Ski Area.
Also, 150 additional events.
