Winter Festival Held in Akureyri

These include a march with flashlights and a snow obstacle race at the local ski resort, Mt. Hlídarfjall, ski-doo race and ice cross at the Leirutjörn pond, a fat snowman on Rádhústorg square, an ice sculpture outside the new culture house Hof, toboggan tours on behalf of Kaldbaksferdir and EY-LÍV’s annual winter sport expo.

According to a press release, preparations are well underway and there is plenty of snow.

The festival is held by Hlídarfjall, EY-LÍV, the Akureyri Region Business Agency, Visit Akureyri and Blek design and supported by a number of companies and associations.

For further information (in Icelandic) visit the festival’s website or email organizer Birkir Sigurdsson: [email protected].
