The winner of the first The Voice Iceland was announced on Friday. Hjörtur Traustason from Bolungarvík, Northwest Iceland, won the contest with the song ‘Ferðalok’ by Óðinn Valdimarsson. The winner was chosen by phone voting. Hjörtur’s coach on the show was Svala Björgvins, a singer-songwriter who is a member of the band Steed Lord.
The Voice is a reality television singing competition franchise. It is based on the reality singing competition The Voice of Holland. Many other countries have adapted the format and begun airing their own versions since 2011.
