Stjarnan (‘The Star’) from Garðabær, located in the Reykjavík area, plays its first game against Inter Milan tonight for a place in the European League.
To secure the game against Inter, Stjarnan played and won three teams, first against Bangor from Wales, then the Scottish team Motherwell and finally Lech Poznan from Poland.
The game takes place in Laugardalsvöllur in Reykjavík and started at 21:00 local time.
The most famous person to have played with Stjarnan is former super defender, now Icelandic Minister of Finance and chair of the Independence Party, Bjarni Benediktsson. He arrived at this evening’s game in his Stjarnan uniform.
