Roads within the capital are slippery and covered in snow. As reported earlier, smaller cars which have gotten stuck in the snow have blocked roads within Reykjavík.

The police, search and rescue teams and civil protection department have asked people who have not already left home to stay put, and those who are not far from their homes to turn back, ruv.is reports.

A crash involving 20 cars occurred on the road from the capital to Hafnarfjörður at 10:30 this morning. Visir.is reports that no one was seriously injured.

The road from the capital to Keflavík and the International Airport is extremely slippery while other roads out of the capital are closed.

Weather updates are available on vedur.is and road updates on vegagerdin.is.
