White Night Wedding Gets 14 Edda Nominations

White Night Wedding (2008), a comedy by Baltasar Kormákur, received 14 nominations on Friday for the 2008 Edda Awards, the Icelandic Oscars, thereby breaking the record for Edda nominations.

The previous record was also held by a Baltasar Kormákur movie, The Sea (2002), which received 12 Edda nominations, Fréttabladid reports.

White Night Wedding has already secured one award, because it received all the nominations in the of category Best Supporting Actor.

Reykjavík-Rotterdam (2008), a thriller by Óskar Jónasson, in which Baltasar Kormákur plays the main role, is another Edda favorite this year, earning ten nominations.

The Edda Awards will be broadcast live on RÚV on November 16.
