When residents of Southwest Iceland woke up this morning, the area was covered with 21 cm (8.3 in) of snow. Roads are icy in this part of the country and people are advised to travel with caution.
Take time to remove snow off your car. Vehicles looking like travelling snowmen with a white cover over their eyes are a hazard to others in traffic.
Snow removal vehicles have been moving fast this morning, making life easier for residents.
Employers are advised to show understanding, since most people are late for work this morning.
Ironically, this first white day marks the first time Icelandic merchants aggressively advertise Black Friday ―a day of large discounts, which in the US marks the beginning of the Christmas shopping season.
