Immediately after the banking collapse in Iceland in October 2008, the INL of NA pondered on how to assist Icelanders in need and launched fundraising before Christmas of 2008, which resulted in a donation of CAD 15,000 (ISK 1.4 million, according to the exchange rate at the time), Morgunbladid reports.

Since July 2009 until now, CAD 25,000 has been raised.

Almar Grímsson, chairman of the Icelandic National League, presented the donation to the charity’s branches in the capital region on behalf of the INL of NA and Jón Hlödver Áskelsson, the league’s contact in North Iceland, presented the donation to the Akureyri branch.
