Web Cam Shows Black Cloud at Iceland Eruption

A live web cam showed how a jet-black cloud rose from the volcanic crater at the summit of the Eyjafjallajökull glacier in south Iceland earlier this evening. It appears as if the eruption is growing in force.

The Civil Protection Department is paying close attention to developments as flooding is still a risk. The water level in the Markarfljót river is being monitored. It peaked at 1 pm today but has since subsided.
