The Icelandic Met Office has issued a weather warning for West Iceland. RÚV reports that the wind is particularly strong on Snæfellsnes peninsula, especially in the northern part, in Ólafsvík and Grundarfjörður, and that the road between the villages is closed as is the mountain pass which connects the northern part of the peninsula with Reykjavík. There is also heavy horizontal rain and snow on higher ground.
Domestic flights have been canceled.
The storm is expected to calm later today but the rain will continue until tomorrow.
