The police in Blönduós, Northwest Iceland, have issued a travel warning. The weather in Langidalur valley, just east of the village on Ring Road 1, is terrible with a snowstorm and strong wind, dv.is reports.

The local search and rescue team is on its way to Öxnadalur to assist people who are stuck in their cars. Öxnadalur mountain pass, on Ring Road 1, connects Northwest Iceland to Akureyri, the largest town outside the capital region.
The police urge people to check the weather and road conditions before setting out.
