The Icelandic Met Office has issued a strong gale warning (wind speeds in excess of 20 m/sec) in the highlands today, in most parts of the country tonight and again tomorrow night. Heavy rain is in the forecast for Southeast Iceland tonight.
Strong, southwesterly winds with snow showers in the south and west today and occasional lightning. Calmer winds and mostly dry in the northeast. Temperatures around and above 0˚C (32˚F). Stronger winds tonight, reaching 18-25 m/sec tonight, considerable rain or sleet, and heavy rain in the southeast.
Winds will die down tomorrow morning and precipitation decrease, but winds pick up again in the northwest and south tomorrow night. Snow in the northwest and snow showers in the south. Dropping temperatures.
