Waterfall Oil Paintings Exhibition Opens

A new exhibition entitled “Waterfall Walk” by artist Unnur Óttarsdóttir opened at SÍM (The Association of Icelandic Visual Artists), Hafnarstræti 16, yesterday.

The exhibition consists of oil paintings of waterfalls with Icelandic lava and rough texture. Part of the exhibition is a performance where the pieces are temporarily brought out of the gallery space to be taken through the streets and squares of Reykjavík.

The exhibition aims to “facilitate the meeting of man, nature and art work,” according to a statement by the artist. The paintings have also been exhibited out in nature and a video showing the work traveling outdoors is also screened.

Unnur graduated from the Icelandic Academy of the Arts in 2010 and also holds a diploma in art from Akureyri Art School.

SÍM is open 9 am to 5 pm from Monday to Friday.
