Washing Machine Thief Caught in Reykjavík

A man in his twenties recently confessed to stealing a washing machine from an apartment complex in the capital region. Other such cases are being investigated—last week police found a stolen washer inside a car that they had stopped.

In that case the laundry machine could be returned to its rightful owners but police say stolen washers are sometimes sold at prices that sound too good to be true, Morgunbladid reports.

Police encourage people to contact them if they notice washing machines being offered at unusually low prices and also to make sure that strangers cannot access the communal rooms of apartment complexes where washers are often kept.
