Warmer-Than-Average October This Year

October was an unusually warm month this year, with heat levels above average in every part of the nation, according to the Icelandic Met Office.

The average temperature in Reykjavík was 6.9 degrees Celsius, which is 2.5 points above the average between the years 1961 and 1990, and 1.8 points above the average of the last 10 years.

This coincides with every other month of the year thus far. February, May, September and October were considered very warm. The average temperature in Reykjavík for the past 10 months was measured 6.7 degrees, which is 1.6 points above the average of 1961-1990 and 0.5 points above the average of the last 10 years.
