Wanted: Songs for Eurovision

By Iceland Review

Songs are wanted for the Icelandic Song Contest. The winner will represent Iceland in Eurovision in Helsinki, Finland, in May.

In last year’s Eurovision in Athens, Greece, the infamous Silvía Nótt represented Iceland, a spoiled, rude and egocentric young woman – a character created by actress Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir.

Silvía Nótt was not popular among the other contestants or the European voters. But she had been chosen by the Icelandic people in the preliminary contest and now Icelanders can vote their representative again, as reported by RÚV.

The Icelandic Song Contest will be held early next year and the deadline for submitting songs is 16 November. Further information about the procedure can be found on www.ruv.is.
