Telecommunication company Vodafone will be the main sponsor of the sports club Valur for the next five years, according to an agreement reached this week. Valur will instead deal with Vodafone on all its telecommunication businesses.
Valur’s new sports hall and football field will be named after Vodafone, which are scheduled to open August 25. The agreement is the first of its kind; no other sport venues in Iceland bear the name of the sport club’s sponsor, according to Vodafone’s press release.
Valur is one of Iceland’s most successful sports club in handball, football and basketball.
