Vodafone announced this week it has overtaken the telephone operations of the telecommunication company Fjölnet in Saudarkrókur in Skagafjördur, northwest Iceland, along with its current telephone service contracts.
The agreement included Vodafone providing telecommunication service to the local cooperative Kaupfélag Skagfirdinga, the Savings Bank of Skagafjördur and other local institutions.
According to a Vodafone press release, Fjölnet managing director Snorri Styrkársson (right) said the sale enabled his company to concentrate on other projects like providing internet service.
Vodafone managing director Gestur G. Gestsson (left) said the move had been natural after Vodafone’s increased operations in Skagafjördur this year.
