Visit Reykjavík receives special recognition

Visit Reykjavík, the Reykjavík City marketing office, was given a special recognition at the European Cities Tourism Awards 2007 in Athens on Wednesday for successfully marketing the city and introducing it to tourists.

Visit Reykjavík was one of five marketing offices nominated for the “European City Tourism Organization of the Year Award” which went to Götenborg & Co, Sweden, Morgunbladid reports.

According to Svanhildur Konrádsdóttir, the department director of Visit Reykjavík, the selection committee had decided the marketing office should receive a special recognition for its “outstanding achievement.”

“This is an enormous encouragement for us and Visit Reykjavík’s staff, which has done an excellent job and achieved more than could have been expected of such a small marketing office,” Konrádsdóttir said.
