Visit Reykjavík is among five marketing offices in European cities that have been nominated for this year’s “European City Tourism Organization of the Year” award, as announced last week.
The other four marketing offices are Wonderful Copenhagen, Denmark, Göteborg & Co, Sweden, The Mersey Partnership in Liverpool, England, and Valencia Tourism & Convention Bureau, Spain.
The goal with the awards, organized by European Cities Marketing, is to honor those marketing offices in European cities that demonstrate outstanding achievement in marketing their cities for tourists.
Judges were especially looking for cities that put effort into meeting the needs of tourists, work towards sustainable tourism and demonstrate efficient use of budgets and measurable success in their work.
The European Cities Tourism Awards 2007 will take place in Athens, Greece, on June 13.
