Vintage Store in East Iceland Proves Popular

The vintage store Gleymmérei (“Forget-me-not”), which is run by three sisters in Seydisfjördur in the East Fjords, has proven popular among local women, many of whom have begun wearing vintage dresses on a daily basis.

The sisters inherited their interest in dresses from their mother, Gudborg Sigtryggsdóttir. “[She] preserved her dresses like gold but on rainy days we were allowed to take them out of the closet and try them on,” one of the sisters, Sigurveig Gísladóttir, told Fréttabladid.

The Gleymmérei sisters are planning to launch a website and webstore. In the meantime their dresses can be looked at on Facebook and ordered via email: [email protected].
