Vilborg Leaves for Everest

Icelandic adventurer Vilborg Arna Gissurardóttir left yesterday for Nepal, where she plans to set off on her journey up Everest.

Vilborg is attempting to climb each of the seven continent’s highest peaks within a period of one year, from May 2013 to May 2014. Everest is last on her list. If successful, she will become the first Icelandic woman to climb the mountain.

Vilborg told that it was a dream of hers to climb Everest and that her unending passion was what kept her going.

Last year, Vilborg became the first Icelander to walk solo to the South Pole.
