A group of 15 people of seven nationalities have set off on the first overland journey, in an ex-army 4×4 truck, from Reykjavík to Capetown. The group, known as Vikings Across Africa, will take the ferry from Seyðisfjörður, East Iceland, to the Faroe Islands and then on to Denmark, tomorrow morning.

The team will then continue across Europe via Germany, France and Andorra before continuing on to Malaga in southern Spain. The plan is to then travel to Gibraltar and on to Morocco by ferry before driving south across Africa ending in South Africa.
The group plans to visit 20 countries in six months.
