Viking Clap in Royal Presence

Last night, thousands of guests at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2016 ceremony, Prince William among them, took part in the so-called Viking clap, made famous by Icelandic football fans in France last summer, RÚV reports. Members of Tólfan, the Icelandic national football teams’ fan club, were specially invited to the event to conduct the clap.

At the event, which took place at Birmingham’s Genting Arena, tennis player Andy Murray was chosen Sports Personality of the Year for a record third time.
