Vigdís Finnbogadóttir Institute Receives Grant

The University of Iceland’s Vigdís Finnbogadóttir Institute of Foreign Languages recently received a ISK 100 million (EUR 645,000, USD 860,000) grant from the Danish A.P. Møller foundation for the construction of a new building for the International Centre for Multilingualism and Intercultural Understanding and other operations of the institute.

The center is named after Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, former president of Iceland and a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, and operates under the auspices of UNESCO.

As reported on hi.is, this is the second time the foundation allocates a substantial grant to the institute; in total over ISK 200 million, making it the largest donor apart from the university itself.
