VIEWPOINT 55

By Iceland Review

No town or village is further from the capital area, where close to 80 percent of Icelanders live, than Bakkafjörður, in the northeast corner of Iceland. Population: less than 50.

At this time of the year, it takes you more than ten hours one way from Reykjavík, to tank at the gas station down by the old fishing harbor in Bakkafjörður.

The price of gas is the same as in the capital; that’s a plus.
