It has been a slow start to the summer with rain and temperatures in the single digits.

Ten degrees Celsius (50ºF) is forecast for Saturday and up to 13ºC in the east today and 14ºC in the Northeast later this week.

IR photographer Páll Kjartansson took this photo in Laugardalur park yesterday afternoon.

Laugardalur, or ‘Hot Spring Valley,’ is a popular recreation area in Reykjavík with walking and running tracks, an ice-skating rink and sports stadium, The Family Park and Zoo, the Botanical Garden and the capital ’s largest swimming pool.
