A truck blew off the road on the Ring Road on Hellisheiði mountain pass leading from Reykjavík to Hveragerði and South Iceland yesterday evening, as can be seen in the following video shot by Dieter Schweizer. Search and rescue teams were called out.
A bus also blew off the road, as the wind speed reached 23 meters per second. No one was harmed and the passengers were quickly brought to safety. No other accidents were reported on Hellisheiði yesterday but the two incidents delayed traffic, mbl.is wrote yesterday.
The wind has calmed but snowfall and slippery conditions have caused significant delays to traffic in the capital region this morning. Many collisions have occurred in Kópavogur, a neighboring town of Reykjavík, ruv.is reports.
