Video: Icelanders Mow Snow-Covered Lawn

Friends Jóhann Konráð Birgisson and Finnbogi Helgi Snæbjörnsson shot a video of themselves mowing the lawn of their summer house in Grenivík, North Iceland, on the occasion of the First Day of Summer—despite there being a blizzard outside and the lawn being covered in snow.

“It was just a joke, something we recorded because my sister had started mowing the lawn in Sweden, so we just wanted to send her a video of the same thing here,” commented Jóhann to mbl.is.

However, they didn’t expect the video to go viral. “The reaction is a little stronger than we expected—it’s been watched around the world,” Jóhann stated.

The official First Day of Summer was celebrated in Iceland on April 23. The following day it started snowing again in North Iceland.
