Very Cold Weather Hits Iceland

Very cold air coming from the Arctic Ocean, north of Jan Mayen, will hit Iceland in the coming days, says Meteorologist Trausti Jónsson.

The temperature will be 7°C colder than average for this time of the year.

The wind coming from the north will remain for the next few days.

Saturday will be very cold, 4°C (39°F) and rain in North and East Iceland, the best weather will be in the West and Southwest, with sunny spells and temperature up to 15°C (59°F).

Sunday and Monday: rain and cold in North and East Iceland, with temperature around 3°C (37°F), warmer in South Iceland, were temperature will be around 13°C (55°F).

Next week: the cold northerly wind will continue, with temperatures about the same as on Saturday. Warmest in South Iceland.

In a week’s time, next Friday, the cold spell seems to be over, with light rain in South Iceland, and sunnier, much warmer temperatures in the north of the country we call Iceland.
